Design Framework and Principles for Learning Environment Co-Design: Synthesis from Literature and Three Empirical Studies

The need for environments conducive to learning and wellbeing has been broadly recognised. Considering particularly learner perceptions in the environment design is known improve both their wellbeing. There are no, however, shared theoretical frameworks guiding co-design from perspective. As a response this challenge, (LED) framework was developed based on literature involving learners aged 7 19 (n = 342) Finland 266) Spain 76). LED entails 53 characteristics grouped under seven constructs. It draws attention importance of balancing communality with individuality, comfort health, novelty conventionality. Flexibility functionality recognised as central enablers quality environment. study suggests principles co-design.
